I am going to go on a little rant here..just need to express how I am feeling at the moment.. I have lived in Kent my whole life, my mom was raised in this town and my grandfather lived here his whole life as well. I am disappointed in the city of kent and have been for about 2 months now. We live on 43 near the high school and my mom recently learned after we had to get a drain service out here 4 times that there is a sewage line broke in the main road that is causing our drains in our basement to back up and flood the whole basement and the city of kent told my mom it is our responsibility to have it fixed, that she needs to hire an excavator to come here and dig up the road and to fix the sewage line and told her if it doesnt get fixed it will cause a sink hole in the road and she is looking to spend anywhere from $15,000-$20,000 to fix it! What the heck Kent?!?! It is the main road in Kent..no one wants to do it cause they dont want to have to deal with hiring a crew to direct traffic and to fight with the city to get the permits to do it! She has talked to many different companies and they have told her they wont do it because of how difficult the city is, the city wont come fix it or tell us who we could call that is willing to fix it, and we have one of the highest tax rates for what? I am sure if this problem was near Kent state it would have been fixed already since ksu seems to be the only priority in this town, not its faithful residents who just arent here for the reputation of the college. So, in the next few months when there is a sink hole in the middle of 43, you all will know why. Thank you city of kent for putting the actual residents of Kent last.
