I am going to go on a little rant here, so hold on. I belong to a Union. I pay dues. I don’t have to pay dues but I do. I have seen our union do some marginally good things. They negotiated a decent contract in tough economic times and I received a little bit of a raise. Let me be clear “A LITTLE BIT”. But it beats the four year pay freeze we had been under. Welfare recipients and SSI scammers have gotten more than those of us doing the public’s work, but I digress. Our Union is in the business of making things difficult and hindering the efficiency of our workforce to artificially make our jobs look difficult and to pander for more employees (members) and better pay and benefits. They use artificial safety concerns and made up grievances to block common sense cost savings, and to make our job seem harder and more hazardous than it is. We shield slackers and incompetence all the while shifting that load onto the industrious and capable among our ranks. Our Union waves the flag of these made up issues and ruins our credibility when it comes to the real issues we should concern ourselves with. That being the lack of availability of parts, materials, and travel to fortify and maintain the national air space for the flying public. Things need to change. Get off your ass get to work or get the hell out of the way……..My wife used to belong to a union; she was promoted into a group outside of the union. Again it is a public agency. So to be short with this one folks we have a union of custodians and gardener’s that dictates to some of the largest school districts in the state how they are going to do business, where they are going to build, and what they will fix. In essence you have the custodian telling the school boards how to educate your children. This crap needs to stop. If your members don’t get paid overtime or get cheated on a holiday speak up. Otherwise sweep the floor and shut up. To my Union brothers and sisters I challenge you to ask yourselves, are you part of the solution or part of the problem?
