I am going to post two statuses today: one about an update on Wes and one about the 4th annual Wes Wish toy drive delivery. I feel that it deserves a status of its own. First of all I want to say thank you to every single person that came together to help us pull this off while we are in the middle of dealing with a second relapse. Cancer will not stop us. Wes was unable to attend due to not feeling well. This year the toys completely filled and overflowed 5 wagons and 3 pallets! We also expanded a bit to include gift cards for the parents. Every year we meet new families who have been thrown into this battle and each year it touches your heart to know you made a difference. Our toy drive is a bit different than some. We do not say get one gift and youre done. We allow each family to take home a few things each for their children and siblings. Tears were flowing from parents eyes and one family stuck out. This mom was in tears for the majority of our time there and she hugged me a few times. You see, this familys insurance would not cover her young daughters treatment so they are having to pay everything out of pocket. She is a mother of 6 and her children were not going to receive Christmas presents this year. She had been asked over and over what they were doing for Christmas but she said she had no idea. She proceeded to tell me that the toys we brought in today were going to be her childrens Christmas and that what we did was a blessing to her family. We heard several similar situations from different families while we were there. This is what this season is about. I have and will continue to instill in my children that one person can make a difference if you dedicate yourself to the cause and Wes, you already have. This toy drive started and continues because of you. ♡
