I am going to say this. I HAVE to say this. When I spoke today of being a Christian who supported equal rights, I was NOT in any way, posing as some sanctimonious, holy woman who is generously tolerant of the GLBTQ community. I just LOVE people, and I happen to be a Christian. The MAN, Jesus, who I do not feel was perfect (I could be stoned for that, for sure, but I prefer to think he was a man like me and he was on earth and he was a teacher like Buddha or any other prophets who mostly all taught the same thing). What I WAS getting at---which has nothing to do with religion, with beliefs, with anything whatsoever---was that I, myself, could not make myself stomach that EVERY minister in m/m fiction is a gay basher or is bigoted. I just get tired of it tht is all. YES....it is a HORRIBLE reality that, within christianity there is much, much hatred and bigotry. Im not stupid and naive. I DO see that. I KNOW that. But---seeings as not 100% of Christians are hate mongers---I just long to see someone DARE to portray a minister in a GOOD light. And I did so in my book. THAT was all brought the subject up for. That was all. I loved seeing a minister (on a blog today) stand up and say she WAS a minister who. With so many christian ministers in books today being monsters (some hilariously over the top), I am afraid sometimes to admit I am Christian because of this. I only wanted to say that there were SOME clergy who arent hypocrites. There are some who love everyone for real. Not with sanctimonious tolerance but with genuine love. As usual, Ive made a fool of myself. But like the Billy Joel songs says, Ive been a fool for lesser things.
