I am grateful tonight for more things than Im sorry for after a day of disaster at Second Chance. We lost 1/4 of our total roof and a back garage door that served as a wall - but it was in an area that did NOT cover animals. We lost a lot of dog food and supplies - but we serve a community that supports us everyday, including the days when we really need help, like today, and Im confident that replenished supplies will make their way to us someday. We have wonderful volunteers that keep our rescue going 365 days a year. Today they salvaged food, dumped water, moved equipment, petted frightened cats, and hugged each other whenever someone stated it could have been much worse. TOMORROW - Starting at 9:30am, we will be moving out more of the supplies in the warehouse, cleaning them and storing them in the new storage sheds while the roof is being repaired. We could use help all day. If youre coming out to help, please wear closed shoes and be prepared to get wet and dirty. We could use garbage bags. Please hold off on replenishing our food supply until the warehouse is repaired. We will send out word when were ready. There are no words to express my appreciation for the stream of help throughout today, without much notice. Thank you is all I can say for the strong backs and arms, good organizational ideas, cheery attitudes, and constant words of encouragement during this difficult time. On behalf of the dogs and cats and kittens and puppies we care for regardless what nature throws our way, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
