I am having a heated discussion with my MBF about educational - TopicsExpress

I am having a heated discussion with my MBF about educational scholarships as we watch the Equity wings to fly launch. Now retired, my MBF worked for a top 5 Fortune 500 company for 40 years in all the continents and has interesting views about A students. His logic: 1. The most successful people in the world were never A students. Our obsession with bright and needy will create more workers than Entrepreneurs and risk takers. 2. Who is focusing on the average (B,C and D) students who may also not afford an education? These are students with a lot of potential. 3. A students (especially under 8-4-4) have a challenge of thinking out of the box since they are trained to cram answers. When given a problem that is a variation of what they have been dealing with, they find it difficult to solve problems. 4. James Mwangi was not an A student. He is a shrewd, vicious businessman. He is an average man trying to prove a point. *Looking for Malcolm Gladwells Outliers*
