I am having a huge problem with Alabama Medicaid. They keep denying my sons enteral supplies. He is 9 years old and 100% dependent. He has had his EPSDT and ped has confirmed that paperwork on their end is done. It seems the issue is between the infusion supply company and Medicaids 3rd party contractor. Infusion supply assured me they had this handled but somewhere along the first request for prior-authorization the paper work was lost and the second attempt for a re-evaluation for benefits was denied because someone made a mistake and wrote 2012 instead of 2013 on one of the dates. If anybody has been through this with Medicaid please help! I know legally they cant refuse this request without violating federal law but they seem to be intent on denying on small technicalities and they state only one more final review will be allowed for reconsideration. My son has never been denied enteral supplies before since his case is extremely clear cut due to 100% dependency. This issue seems to be a paperwork problem and I have lost faith in both the supplier and contractor to resolve this properly. Just in case it matters he has severe disabilities and is on Medicaid through SSI.
