I am having trouble understanding why the Fisher family would want money as part of an agreement allowing Avery Fisher Hall to be renamed. Avery Fisher was a philanthropist who gave the original 10 million to renovate the old Philharmonic Hall. He wanted to *give* to the arts, not receive money from arts organizations. The grandson is quoted as asking whether Avery Fisher would be proud of the agreement the family has made. I have a suspicion he might not be if he knew about it. If someone can explain this to me, I would like to be enlightened. Here are some quotes from the article and the link to the piece in the Times.
