I am honored to be mentoring this lovely young lady for the next few weeks through Lightspan Digital and American Council of Young Political Leaders! Hanar is a womens rights activist from Iraq and has already accomplished so much good for her country. Hanar is the founder and President of the first English magazine, For You Magazine, that is dedicated to Iraqi womens issues and awareness. She is currently volunteering for seven womens rights organizations and has started panels to educate others on the risks associated with female genital mutilation (FGM). She has interviewed other women activists via a local radio channel and is currently working on a television and conference project to continue to raise awareness and create change in her community. It goes without saying that I am blown away by this incredible, beautifully brave individual and I look forward to both teaching and learning as much as I can these next two weeks! I can promise you that Hanar is certainly going places.
