I am honored to include my parent s in the Founding Families. Frances and Earl Jones were among the first twenty foundation members of Southern Academy. Earl served as a member of the board and was vice-chairman at one time. During those early years he was Southern’s representative to the Alabama Private School Athletic Association, serving as secretary, treasurer and vice chairman of the state athletic committee. Frances taught a class five days a week for two years, and worked as an office assistant for eleven years. Giving of her time these years was her gift to Southern Academy. The Jones’ were the first presidents of the Parent Teacher Organization. They remained active in the school for many years, serving as Grand Marshalls of the Homecoming Parade just two months before Frances’ death in 2007. Forgive me for including myself in this photo, but it is just too good of Mom and Dad to not include.
