I am hoping that over the years I have been able to draw a clear picture of how the Waterbury Republican American has treated civil rights and the African American and Latino Communities, by manipulating the news to destroy any viable movement of these groups. It all started on December 4, 2012 when they wrote a story about my suspension from the local branch of the NAACP, which they never imagined would turn into an international AP news wire story worldwide. They pitted me against a young Dominican American and allowed him to trash my almost 40 years activism by saying some very nasty things about my character and never even letting me know, what he was saying while they interviewed me while lifting a comment from my face-book page without bothering to verify if I had made such powerful allegations against the National NAACP, nor did the reporter tell me it was going to be in the story at all. But unknown to the Waterbury Republican the New Haven Register was running the story, in the wire news which clashed with their reporting that was what seemed to be a personal feud between Victor Diaz and I, who at the time was the Waterbury Branch President. The headline read, Griffin tossed out of NAACP, Ex-leader plans to fight and that I did . I charged that newspaper set-me up to take fall after covering me for 18 years with controversies by the hundreds, as I had ran for state representative, mayor, was commissioner on charter revision plus numerous activities including the NAACP. But I noticed when they trashed me they never mentioned none of those past endeavors, not even the fact that I was the immediate past state president of the Connecticut NAACP. So here we are again and they still refuse to print the truth about the local or state NAACP dealings, with the mayor or governor in relationship to the suspensions of local branches in Waterbury and Bridgeport during the same period of time. Then you will understand the games they play with our community by picking our leadership through media hype while selling us out along with the political structure of this city.
