I am in Malaysia IIUM participating in Muslim Heroes Conference. During the break a couple approached me. They appeared odd, a Malaysian boy and an American look alike girl. The girl said, I am Muslim by heart but afraid to convert now because I fear family back lash when I go back to the US next year So I asked the boy, Are you planning to marry her? He affirmed enthusiastically. I told the girl, You are an American ! Your country is an extremely liberal country. You can adopt lesbianism or prefer a live in relation or even become a Muslim, there is no such issue. She resisted, I fear what my parents will say? I said, You are here for one more year. You can be a Muslim now and keep learning Islam, for a year , till then you will get confidence and you wont fear then I continued, Islam gives power to the weak and removes your fear complex. You dont have to announce to your parents now. Keep it within your self. She was still reluctant and said : I am really afraid. what will people say? I replied, You are American. Your country attacks anyone without caring what will the world say! Your country claims to be superpower, you are a suppose to be strong That clicked. The girl was quite for a while and they she said I am ready to be a Muslim now. Then I looked at the boy and said Marry her.. she is a Muslimah and no affair now. If you dont marry her soon then Ill get her married to another boy! The couple was happy and I am waiting for their wedding invitation. Inshallah Many a times a good counselling can encourage a reluctant person to push his/her self without being forced into Islam. Islamic counselling is a really in-demand subject. Choose it or loose it..
