I am in bushwick and there is a music video taking place. It is a rap video. Large black men from the entourage of some artist line the sidewalk as I walk through the set filled with lights and those movieset boxes on wheels used to carry equipment. There is a bentley coupe with considerable modifications made to the lights, wheels, and sound system. Everyone is thuggish with a sense of new money which you can tell they have not had for very long. I bum a cigarette from one of the large men and look for a light elsewhere. Across the street is a cafe filled with white people drinking overprice, slow dripped, coffee. The name is something French and bohemian. A lone child is by himself outside of the cafe. Someones kid. He is white with a razor scooter in hand and attempting small jumps and failing frequently, but not without some potential skill. His blonde hair reflects the sun. This is gentrification to me.
