I am in favor of welfare reform not because people get money when they are not working but because it is bad for ones mental health because one does not contribute to society and also you have civil servants and others who put you down. Reforming the welfare state is happening now all over Europe; often it is too extreme although the direction of policy is a good one. In Britain they are now thinking about forcing unemployed people to sign on to the Job Center from 9 to 5 everyday so that they get a sense of work ethic again; I think this is too extreme. I was quite shocked to hear about this.
