I am inspired what Jesus says in the book of Mathew in relation to populism. Mathew 6 teaches that when you do something good or right, you must not blow a trumphet or seek praise from the public. This is an ordinary teaching which applies both in politics and religion. For example a politician who wants praise for doing what he considers right is no different from a Pastor who publishes and advertises himself and pretends as though he is lifting up the name of Jesus (such like is as when a politician pretends to be putting the name of his organisation), when he infact is rather using Gods name for his popularity. The scripture has political significance in that leaders who like popularity may and they do often make it appear as though they are publicising the party or the goodness they do, yet they inherently know they are putting themselves before everyone and anything. A lot can be learnt from this book of Mathew, even by a politician, a revolutionary and a general christian!
