I am into Day 6 of no power nor internet. Im lucky to be married to sheldon lehman who owns a huge generator. We are supplying power to ourselves and to neighbors so our food wont get spoiled & we can filter and access our water. I am glad I diversified my utilities because I have a working landline phone and TV through an antenna - those who bought the cablevision package have no phone, no internet and no TV. People who were telecommuting are out of work. We are so thankful to our friends, neighbors and strangers who have come as far as Kona with chainsaws because the roads are now clear although some power lines remain down. Someone recently in Hawn Acres turned on a downed line - caused minor fires but at least no casualty. The National Guard have come in to patrol the neighborhood - havent heard of looting in HPP but have heard of some in Hawn Beaches. Throughout all this, we still need to have a primary election. Puna has an opportunity to make a big difference so PLEASE tell your friends, acquaintances and anyone you know who live in HPP, Hawaiian Beaches and Hawaiian Shores to vote FRIDAY, August 15.
