I am intrigued by the terms used in the media when the police is investigating a case and questions a suspect or a witness in that matter. If the person is one highly placed like Tharoor or Bansal, the former railway minister, the term used is quizzed. If it is a lesser person, the term is grilled. The latter term has intimidating implications of possible use of violence. If all are supposed to be equal before law, why two different modes of examination, one for the powerful and another for the common? Did Bansal get away because he was only quizzed? Will Tharoor, even if guilty, get away likewise by being quizzed and not grilled?
