I am just putting this out there, David Cronenberg should direct a remake of The Shining. Kubrick is a technical master, and Cronenbergs films are true classics. However, The Shining is an adaption of a Stephen King novel. When you analyze from an adaption stand point, Kubricks film is an adaption on the surface only. The book and the film are very different on a deeper level. Kubrick created a horror classic, and even Stephen King will acknowledge the impact, but the book is a literary horror classic. Some of The Shinings film fans seem to forget that. Though I sometimes wonder what goes through horror fans minds when they actually make comments claiming King and Cronenberg are weak storytellers and are just jealous.... SO I say King should approach Cronenberg to take a chance with it. Kubricks film exists, nothing will remove it, so what is the harm with doing a closer adaption.
