I am kinda numb. I needed to come to grips with what the cardiologist said yesterday so I am now ready to put it out there. I am in heart failure, while in his office I was in tachycardia (a fancy term for hey, yo your heart is beating WAY too fast woman). The ran an EKG right away to determine if I needed to go to the hospital. I guess I had a resting heart rate at 120 with narrow complex (not sure really what that meant, but it kept me out of the hospital I guess). He said I was basically running a race sitting still so therefore he needed to get me on meds that day. Normal would be 60-80 beats. I am on 2 heart meds right now, will pick up another today, drastic lifestyle changes next. Wheelchair bound for a while when I go out for longer than 30 or so yards (thanks to Lori Shipman Huling for lending me one), I have to say goodbye to fast food, canned foods, salt and so much more apparently for good. I need to monitor my blood pressure 5 times daily and of course the $100 monitor keeps telling me I have a clothing obstruction error when I have no shirt on...uuuggghhhh. Taking that back today. And monitor my weight for more than 2 lbs gain 2 days in a row or more than 5 per week. The scariest part I suppose was when he said my numbers made me a good candidate for a heart transplant! WHAT THE? then he said he will monitor me on meds for 90 days (seeing me 1-2 times per week) tweaking the meds and if my numbers are still bad, he will consider putting an ICD (defibrillator, pacemaker of sorts) in my chest. The transplant is the last resort if my heart still keeps beating so fast for so long it could wear the muscle out. He also said this is irreversible. I dont want to believe that one at all. Please keep me in prayer, as well as my family I know this must be hard on them as well....me? Well I am numb.
