I am learning about metallic liver disease. Duffy is fighting two things right now - recovery from his surgery and this liver thing. If he can pull through, the liver disease is manageable through special diet and medicine. The hard part, for me, is he is in so much pain right now. So I talk with my other mother, Harriet Pistochini, and she reminded me that money can always be replaced, this is my baby and he needs to stay in the hospital. I know I am doing the right thing…I just wish the poor little guy did not have to go through this process. The doctor said right now it is touch and go, so I am going to not keep calling them. I am going to just wait, just wait, and let God do His work. If I lose my friend, my baby, my love I will survive. I will hurt like hell but I will not drink. I will stay faithful. I will try and be there for my friends who have much bigger stuff on their plates right now than this - and I will not be selfish and think only of me. I will feel the feelings. I will cry a lot and I will suit up and show up where I am supposed to be each day. What else can I do? I am a Catholic Out Loud - and I either do it when it is tough or I do not do it at all.
