I am looking at three news items from three different parts of the globe and you can say I am a bit shaken. In Pakistan, suicide bombers in a church claimed 80 lives. In Nairobi, Kenya, gunmen belonging to the Somalian extremist group "Shabab" attacked an upscale Mall and possibly killed more than 50 people. What shook me is the following sentence in the news: "witnesses said the attackers ordered all Muslims to leave the premises, as only non-Muslims would be targeted." And the third item was in Nigeria, where the other extremist group "Boko Haram" stopped traffic in northeast Nigeria dragging people out of their vehicles and killing them, 143 bodies have been recovered so far. And all this happened within a span of two days. I am looking at these news items and shaking my head. It does not matter if mankind makes it to Mars or Jupiter or whatever is out there, if some people think they are privy to absolute truth and striking absolute fear in the hearts of people will make their victory inevitable, then, it is possible, in the long run, nothing else will matter. Man will not go to the moon, penicillin will not be discovered and Internet will remain unknown, but to people who think they are the only one who have the ultimate truth all this is superfluous.
