I am looking for people passionate about the planet we live on to participate in a project related to climate change. I am a professional martial arts instructor but in the last year have become heavily involved with action on climate change. I am a member of the Climate Reality project, trained by Al Gore, a Earth Hourt community ambassador and have founded my own NFP Climate Warrior thats aim is to create awareness and action on climate change within the martial arts community. The project will be a series of photos of people in the future, portraying 2 alternate futures, one where the world has taken action on climate change and the people look to be happily living in a technologically advanced world powered by renewable energy. The other where civilization has collapsed and people are struggling to survive in a world in ecological collapse. For example, someone drinking some water: one scene would portray someone looking like they stepped out of a scifi movie drinking a crystal clear glass of water. The corresponding picture would have the same person wearing rags crouched over a hole they had just dug in a dry creek bed drinking muddy water. Some of these may be quite graphic, designed to shock and create controversy. The idea of this is to take the scientific reality of a climate catastrophe and portray it in terms of visible human suffering. Even when people hear that we are on track for 4 degrees or more of warming by 2100 and that a world 4 degrees warmer can only support a couple of billion people, its only numbers but in everyone of the billions of people who will die there will be a human story of struggle and suffering, its this that these pictures will be designed to portray. In many ways all our fates will be sealed in December this year when world leaders come together in Paris to negotiate a Global agreement to address climate change. For 20 years they have been working on this and have failed, we are out of time and what is being proposed is not enough. There will be a huge amount of action leading up to this by environmental groups all around the world, these pictures could play a part in creating awareness of what is actually at stake. The attached pics are from a climate reality program designed to get people to think about the choices they are making, this is similar but focuses on the outcome.
