I am looking forward to Bob Osmons talk on Sunday at 10:30, his annual patriotic, Independence Days address to our congregation, one of his much anticipated specialties. This year he will focus on Vietnam Veterans, and he will be so kind as to include the names of some of my high school classmates, Class of 1965 and 1966 of Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia, who answered President Kennedys call and gave their last full measure, returning home with an American flag on their coffin, their names later engraved on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., joining 58,000 others. Bob himself is a Veteran, a retired Naval Officer. Recently I drove to Tampa, Florida, to visit my long-time friend Warren Williamson, himself a Vietnam Veteran who served in the infantry. Sad to say, he is now in the late stages of ALS. I love him, and I salute him and all the others of my generation--as well as my stepfather, Jack D. Cline, Sr.--who served their country in Vietnam.
