I am making a dress with concealed buttons: I.e. the out fabric - TopicsExpress

I am making a dress with concealed buttons: I.e. the out fabric does not overlap but behind it there is a strip of fabric on one edge with buttons/button holes and on the other side and next to the other edge has buttons/button holes. Problem is currently I am not sure whether the button holes should be on the strip of fabric (meaning buttons point towards me) or in the lining (reinforced), meaning the buttons sit between lining and outer (meaning I have to sew button holes in silk haboutai. I *hate* sewing silk haboutai, and only one side of the button hole is finger accessible)). The buttons are this sort:1.bp.blogspot/_lp6-98biwsg/TSScwviMi0I/AAAAAAAAAdw/yWXEwBP5478/s400/DSCN4024.jpg They are Weirdly Flat so showing through the outer fabric (heavy wool coating, of the sort that is *entirely* inappropriate for a dress) or mulching my sternum with their buttony ways hopefully not an issue
