I am making use of my citta as the oblation and of my manas as the clarified butter (to get burnt in the fire of yogic sadhana) so that gods as promoters of the process of universal dynamics and lovers of sacrifice may feel motivated to come over here. Also do I make offering constantly all days and nights to Vishvakarman, the Lord of the universe of infinite expansion. -- Yajurveda, VII.78 NOTE: 1. This mantra further confirms the point that yajna is a dramatic form of the yogic sadhana undergone by seers to realise the Reality behind the universal process. This form came to be adopted by them in order to attract the attention of the gods as it was considered to be fascinating to them on account of its tangibility. 2. Citti is denotative of the function of cit, consciousness, as embodied in the individual. Manas, on the other hand, stands for that function of the mind which is involved in the alternation of determination and re-determination which goes continuously within us in the usual course of life. As against the constant shuffling within the fold of awareness preceding the reaching of the conclusion, citta is the basic factor of the awareness provided by cit in this regard. 3. Offering of manas and citta both to the fire of meditation and that, too, constantly day and night stands for the process of dedication of the entire inner being at the feet of the Divine so as to get it transformed from the mental into the supramental. 4. Offering of the same further to Vishvakarman brings universality to the act of dedication while Agni is rather individualistic in his conception, Vishvakarman is universalistic parallel to what Vaishvanara stands for.
