I am new to the group. I have a 9 month old Boston Terrier puppy - TopicsExpress

I am new to the group. I have a 9 month old Boston Terrier puppy Louie who was recently diagnosed with Megaesophagus. Louie is my third ME baby. None of them were by choice. Sixteen years ago I adopted Riley a white German Shepherd puppy from the shelter. After going through pneumonia, parvo, ehrlichia, pneumonia again, and just not thriving he was diagnosed with severe ME. We put him to sleep at about 8 months. Ten years ago I adopted Jonesy a Labradoodle puppy from the same shelter. I recognized the signs of ME immediately and took him in to be x rayed. I had already decided I would euthanize him immediately if he did have ME because I would never put a dog through what Riley had gone through again....but, who can live with euthanizing an adorable ball of chocolate fur?? Not me. So, after his diagnoses of severe ME I took him home and began upright feedings of blended food. I fed him 6 times a day and held him up for 40 minutes after each feeding but, he still brought up food and we struggled with aspiration pneumonia. Then he started having troubles walking and standing and was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. I lost him shortly after he turned 1 year old. And, now I have Louie who I adopted from a coworker. He is from a litter of bottle raised puppies and he never thrived. I saw the signs there as a puppy but, just didnt want to believe this could be happening again. He was confirmed ME about 3 weeks ago when I finally had him x rayed. His is not as severe as my first two but, there nonetheless. He does okay most days with 4 feedings a day and me holding him up for 20 minutes each time. I am hoping his life will be longer and with less complications then Riley and Jonesy. I cant take losing him like I lost them. So, heres Louie. He is a bouncing, crazy 9 month old baby Boston Terrier boy with Megaesophagus....I HATE Megaesophagus!
