I am new to this fabulous group. I would just like to say that South Africans should complain more when the service and food are bad, in a restaurant. People are so afraid of making scenes and so they prefer to keep quiet and suffer in silence, because its not nice, proper, politically correct, etc etc etc. to complain in a restaurant. So they sneak out after the meal and never go back again. That is VERY wrong! Always complain to the manager when you are not satisfied. You are paying good money for your meal and deserve to be treated well. NEVER tip a bad waiter. No matter how guilty you feel! By tipping a bad waiter you are giving him or her permission to slack off. By complaining to the manager, you are notifying him on what he might not be aware of, in his restaurant. You are giving him a chance to rectify a specific problem. Whether or not you go back again is your choice, of course. If on the other hand, you are really happy with your experience, please compliment the waiter or the manager. Everybody likes a compliment for a job well done!
