“I am not ashamed of the gospel… for in it is the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written: ‘He who through faith is righteous will live’” (St. Paul). There are so many reasons why I love St. Paul, and I exceptionally admire him for his frequent use of the Old Testament for clarification. In St. Paul’s writing on his perspective of the gospel, he used the second reply of God to the prophet Habakkuk’s complain about justice; “those who are righteous will live because they are faithful to [Me]” (Hab 2:4b). If that is the case then what faith in God is, or what it means to be faithful to God is like this. When we speak of faith, we mean loyalty to God, belief in God, indestructible hope in God, total acceptance and absolute trust in God. Being loyal to God is being loyal in the mist of the tests and temptations that tries to sway you off the Christian path. Faith therefore becomes the enduring fidelity which marks the real soldier of Christ. Believing in God means one’s conviction and assent that the Christian message is true. Even if your life is at stake, you should still hold on to that believe in God and the gospel. Our faith in God must be an indestructible hope like seeing; we see with our faith not our sight (2 Cor. 5:7). Walking by faith is being of good courage, a Christ-like courage to aid us to live the Christian life with the aim to please Christ. Our faith in God must be a total trust and acceptance. This means staking all time and eternity on the assurance of Christ, in other words, betting your life that there is a God and that we are His children. Enter into a new relationship with God, a relationship of love, confidence, friendship, laughter, and willingness, instead of a relationship from the fear of hell fire, distance, enmity, and fear. This is because God is no longer a God radiating just but terrible punishment. Instead, we come to a God who radiates forgiveness and redeeming love. BeBless
