I am not black. I am not OShaine Evans. I am not Idriss Stelley. I benefit from racism. nomy and i went to a #BlackLivesMatter event today at Pope Press in Olympia, WA. among many things that happened there, i had the opportunity to share stories and raise awareness of OShaine Evans (killed by SFPD October 7, 2014) and Idriss Scott Stelley (killed by SFPD for having my disability - bipolar - June 13, 2001). I also talked about Asa Sullivan (killed by SFPD June 6, 2006) and Alex Nieto (killed by SFPD on Bernal Hill March 21, 2014). sending love to all the families and friends of people who have died because of the militarization of police forces and police brutality. so grateful for my friends Kat Espinosa (mother of Asa) and Mesha Irizarry (mom of Idriss), who is also the director of the Idriss Stelley Foundation. nomy and i are recording a song for you. my family sends all the love to you this winter holiday season. love to all of the families. friends.
