I am not concerned about the quality of the song or even its opinions. I am concerned that it has been branded racist simply becasue Mike Reid sang it calypso style. Ok well if any foriegn national now sings or talks with an Oxford English accent then is it now wrong ? I mean poor Moira Stewart or Trevor MacDonald!!! What of Lance Percival and Gossip Calypso or 10cc (Dreadlock Holiday) Typically Tropical or Peter Sellers singing in a French or Russian Accent?? What of Lionel Ritchie flagrantly singing All Night Long in a Carrabean Accent when he is plainly US American - or is it different if a black man wants to use a different accent - thats all right is it ?- we can play that on the radio? Look whatever the UK hhas left its freedom of expression, and I thought a sense of humour....... Nothing will stir a feeling of racial hatred more easily than small minorities wanting to stop those basic freedoms which are part and parcel of our culture. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me???
