I am not easily impressed by pop culture entertainment, and I am - TopicsExpress

I am not easily impressed by pop culture entertainment, and I am definitely not easily impressed by video games. This is probably because Im pretty awful at video games, so I dont pay a lot of attention to them. To the degree that I do, though, it amazes me that any concept can rise above the ever-growing supply of video games that just seem to flow out of the manufacturers as quickly as they can program them. Thats not to say there arent some obvious concepts, both past and present, that have managed to do so. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, HALO, Call of Duty, Kingdom Hearts, and so forth. All of these at one time or another have managed to rise to considerable prominence. Additionally, every single one of them has managed to expand its presence in the pop culture world well beyond their video game beginnings. Street Fighter has had several movies, animated series, action figures, and comic books. So has Mortal Kombat, with a new title from DC on the horizon. Halo has managed all of this as well, except for a movie, and Ill never understand that. If any of these concepts fumbled the ball a bit, its Kingdom Hearts. This is even more ridiculous since this was a Disney concept. Where the HECK was a movie for this!? Heck, where was a theme park ride? Costumed Sora in the parks? One has to ask, though -- can anything new come along and dominate? Well, a friend of mine showed me a trailer to a forthcoming video game. The concept is unreal. There is so much potential here I can scarcely believe it. Licensees should be lining up out the door of Blizzard Entertainment, begging to be part of this. The potential for comic books, action figures, animation, and who knows what else -- I havent seen a BRAND NEW concept like this come along with this sort of potential in a VERY long time. If this concept doesnt get the extended treatment it deserves, far beyond its video game origins, theres something very wrong with the pop culture world. Its called OVERWATCH. Heres the trailer on YouTube. If you agree with me, please share it with others. Im not plugging this for any other reason than I think its seriously cool, and has potential coming out of everywhere. https://youtube/watch?v=FqnKB22pOC0
