I am not posting this op-ed as an opinion of our healthcare system because most of you know how I feel about the current debacle. What I WILL tell you is that Maggie, our nine-year old cat has far superior medical care than Kelly and I currently have (and we pay approximately $7,000/yr for the non-privilege). Maggies primary care vet is a wonderful woman by the name of Dr. Donna Nizolek at her clinic, the Community Animal Hospital, in Easton, MD. Maggie also has a great cardiologist, Dr. Cober at CVCA in Annapolis, MD that sees her once a year. Kelly and I joke (insert sarcasm here) that we would prefer to see these doctors who have a great bedside manner, listen to our concerns, and actually come up with a sensible regimen as opposed to some pie-in-the-sky diagnosis that has nothing to do with common sense. We are very fortunate to have found caring and compassionate vets.
