I am not quite sure I agree. First thing to know is that the writers wanted this to be immaculately written, an art piece in itself. It succeeded in this. It also wanted to triumph the basics tennants of Christianity, and in this, I feel they did an excellant job. To be sure, though, there are some early texts to consider, and many of them are from schisms in the Church of Rome, and questionable in themselves. But some other works are more readily believed. For myself, if Christ was not the one who executed all of those Miracles, one survived. His message that Love was the important thing, and this could be achieved with patience and forgiveness. This seems to be radically different from previous religions, except, perhaps Hinduism. It offered Western Europe, and Eastern Orthodox areas a new focus.
