I am not shocked at all at news that 3 shop stewards of NUMSA were murdered yesterday at Isithebe. NUMSA has always been a target of the reactionary forces. We send our deepest condolences to their families, friends and comrades. This reminds me of how NUMSA and all unions together with progressive thinkers we targeted and systematically killed by warlords throughout the 1980 until 27 April 1994 and beyond. On the very day COSATU was launched 5 shop stewards from Phophomeni township were burnt alive in their car whilst traveling to the rally. These included Phenius Sibiya and Simon Ngubane. Over many years scores of NUMSA leaders including Jabulile Ndlovu and Sam Ntuli were to be targets and systematically killed. Many stewards from all COSATU unions that existed in the 1980 were also targeted. Warlords used to raid factories demanding to see pay slips of workers. Those belonging to COSATU unions were assaulted or even killed. That never succeeded to turn the wheels of history. The latest violence wont stop the wheels of history
