I am not sure how the members of Keep Carrizo Informed really feel - TopicsExpress

I am not sure how the members of Keep Carrizo Informed really feel about the fact that the City of Carrizo Springs (about a group of 7-10ppl) is taking steps to create its own police department, since I have not received much feedback either way. I really would like feedback whether you are for it or against it as well as comments as to why you choose for or against. The city has already submitted a letter to the county that they will be pulling their funding to the Sheriffs Department so that they can begin their process of creating a PD. Personally I feel the city is rushing to spend money that could better be used else where. We are looking at a minimum of $1 mil annual more to get law protection where if the city gives the county 250,000-300,000 more to get 7-9 more deputies to only patrol city streets, we could safe 700,000 annual that could be utilize to do other things for the citizens of Carrizo Springs. Can you think of where the city could spend 700,000 annual that could make our community better and still have law enforcement protection? There are several things that I can think of that we could spend the money on. Getting a new city hall for starters would be a good idea. Currently if you attend a city council meeting you cannot hear most of what is said by council since they dont utilize mics and some have their backs to us and forget about hearing anything when someone opens the door. We should have a real courtroom for our maniple court judge. We definitely need a city council chambers what we utilize now maybe worked 30yrs ago but it does not do the job now. We need to invest in video equipment to tape all meetings so that he public can watch our elected officials in action. More parks and/or extend our current parks. Beautify our city. There is so much our city could do if they only continue utilizing the county for its law protection. I urge you to take a couple of minutes of your busy schedule and either call city hall at 830-876-3127/2476 or write a letter to Mayor Deleon and City Council members and just drop it off at city hall and let them know how you feel about the city creating a police department. Whether Mayor Deleon, City Council Member Garza and Saenz admit it or not they are making decisions based on political dislikes and not based on what is best for the citizens of Carrizo Springs. By pulling the citys funding, the Sheriff Department will more then likely have to layoff at the minimum 7 deputies from its force. We have our own Maclovia and Tortilla Monster show going on at city hall and we all know who the puppet is and who is controlling the strings and who has their hand up in there controlling the puppets mouth. If you feel that it is best for the city to have its own police department I welcome your feedback, maybe I am not seeing something that you are. I only see us wasting so much money that could easily be utilized better somewhere else. I think that at the least the city should place it up for a vote in the next up coming elections. If they are so confident that the people want it then they should not fear the outcome. Let the peoples voices be heard and do what the people want and not what a few people want. We are not a dictatorship we a democracy where the people have the say. You (elected/appointed officials) work for us, we dont work for you!! Keep Carrizo Informed, Voice your opinion! speak up! get involved! 830-876-3127/2476 call.....make sure that whomever answers the phone writes your msg down.
