I am not too proud to tell this story on myself! Simply put, Im a California girl born and raised. Give me an earthquake any day! This morning I left Shawnee, OK, heading for Denton and I noticed very ominous clouds and the wind was whipping up. Being a Nervous Nellie about twisters, I asked Rob about it. He looked up at the sky and said, nah, it needs to heat up a bit yet. Youre fine. (He winked) 30 mins later as I entered Norman, OK and a gawd awful screaming siren goes off and I damn near drove off the road, having a fairly good idea what the sound was! I pull into a gas station, get out of my truck, RUN over to a woman sitting in a truck and with complete and total terror written ALL OVER MY FACE, I almost screamed Im not from around here! Please, what is the siren for! She calmly says Oh, thats the tornado siren. They test it every Saturday at noon. đâ â¤ī¸â
