I am noticing a trend of martial artists posting questions or topics that have no, little or vague connection to Ryu Kyu Arts. It seems these people are of a different countrys art and seek to qualify or validate what they do by comparing it to Okinawa martial practice. Some dont even reference Ryu Kyu Arts at all and only qualify for discussion when someone comments something Ryu Kyu oriented. It seems that the majority of the membership has changed to that of Shotokan, Wado Ryu, Wing Chun, Tang Soo Do, TKD, Hopkido, and any number of arts ranging from MMA to Savat and qualify to use the term Karateka by only the most fantastical stretch of the imagination. I understand, especially in todays world, different arts cross effect each other. But every post seems to examine Okinawa Karate or Kobudo from the perspective of another unrelated art. I am not interested in Shotokan, Wado Ryu, Wing Chun, Escrima, Thai Boxing or any other art. And I certainly am not interested in the expert opinion of someone not even ranked or experienced in an Okinawa based style. I participate in this group for the sole reason that it is restricted to Okinawa based ryu, because that is what I want to learn more about. I do have great respect for any martial artist, and perhaps I am just a bit agitated and over reacting a bit. But my observations seem to be quite accurate and people of styles other than Ryu Kyu oriented arts are failing to observe the stated purpose for this group. Sorting the wheat from the chaff has become tedious.
