I am now settled into my hotel bungalow in Gold Hill, NV after a VERY long drive up I-395. However, it is now a portion of CA that I have seen. I can safely say that I have now seen at best, 40% of California. It is a gorgeous state for those who have not seen more than SD, LA, go out and SEE IT!! I saw gorgeous deserts, small towns - one had a population of 17! - beautiful pine laden mountain vistas (and yes I saw 3 pines in Lone Pine). The sunset here in NV was simply awe inspiring. The air is so clear here. Traffic only happens when a cow or wild hose crosses the road. The sky at night here is so clear, you can see every star clearly. And to just make my Welcome to Nevada that more special, the area of Virginia City/Gold Hill held their annual Civil War days - which explained why the Rebel (not Confederate) flag was flying from the train that goes around the town. Then as I sat down for dinner, the cannon fire went off for the skirmish that took place to re-take the train on the hill above the hotel. So, yeah, that was my day! Hope everyone elses was equally amazing!
