I am of that certain age when anything recorded after 1979 is that stuff the kids listen to, these days. I couldnt imagine that anything recorded in the 80s would ever become classic. Even the bands that I loved in the 70s became lame and humorless, in an attempt to remain relevant in the 80s. (Im looking at KISS, Alice Cooper, David Bowie and Ozzy, especially.) It seemed like the only recording artist that got better in the 80s than he was in the 70s was Michael Jackson. Here in 2015, I realize that I have a soft spot for some of the music of the 80s, Mostly because they were the soundtrack of the movies of that decade. I feel the same way about the music of the 90s. Didnt get Brittany, Tiffany, TNKOTB, or, God help me, The Spice Girls, then. But they were the artists that my son loved, via Radio Disney. So I, now, listen to them with a pang of nostalgia. I was then, am now, and always will be, a rabid Green Day fan. Dont judge. IMHO, American Idiot is the best album ever recorded in the first decade of the new century. I cant say who I will remember, fondly, from the first two decades of the 21st century. But I am kind of fond of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
