I am on my way from Nassau to North Eleuthera / Harbour Island - TopicsExpress

I am on my way from Nassau to North Eleuthera / Harbour Island early this morning. I so enjoyed my time in Nassau. Everyone was so friendly (in the tourism industry, at least) and seemed to genuinely care about their jobs--while still remaining cheerful. I was hosted by Stuart Cove and my awesome guide, Charlotte Faulkner, boat captain Wendell, photo lab manager Ellison, Liz , master dive instructor Richard, who found his own name tag at the bottom of the lost blue hole, by George and Lance at Sky High Media, who invited me into heir homes for an intimate birthday BBQ and ice cream cake, and by William Cline and Stephen Frink, the masterminds behind Bahamas Underwater Photo Week. As a special treat, I spent a couple evenings with Giles Shaxted, whom I had not seen in years, met and hung out with Madison Stewart, whose new movie, Shark Girl, is causing a stir out there, and Asha Raichura, who is learning to handle sharks. Even at Nassau airport, people have been really friendly (aside from being forced to pay bogus customs for my quadcopter on the way in, which seems like corruption or fraud). Security was thorough, but painless and polite. A woman in line with me at Dunkin Donuts asked whether I enjoyed my time here. Unfortunately, she assumed that I was with the Chinese relay racing team (not as a runner, obviously), but thats ok. Chinas involvement in the Bahamas seems to be significant; a huge amount of recent developments were (and are being) done by Chinese companies. Even the construction workers are Chinese, having been shipped in for specific jobs. Im looking forward to exploring Harbour Island!
