I am one of four Senators to have co-sponsored the bipartisan Forty Hours is Full Time Act – two Democrats and two Republicans -- which matches full-time employee status defined by health care reform to the conventional 40 hour workweek. This bill is a necessary step for our small business community and the Alaskans they want to hire or keep on payroll, but end up feeling pinched by this lost wage incentive. The health care reform bill is costing our service industry, and is leading to the expenses being passed onto customers.
