I am one person. This is what I have seen and what I have learned on my own. I find it odd that local law enforcement, as well as Mayor Ravenstahl, continue to downplay the severity of gang activity in the city limits as well as those that fall outside the jurisdiction of the city of Pittsburgh police. The hundreds of thousands of dollars spent revamping Market Square could be been used to add more police officers to local beats. The 7.3 million dollars spent on new parking meters should have been spent increasing downtown patrols, creating more mini police stations and carving out a stronger police presence in areas where gang activity is most prevalent. The next time Mayor Ravenstahl goes slumming to attend local meetings and try to save face with the justifiably irate tax payers that afford him a lush lifestyle he should take the silver spoon out of his mouth, open his eyes and do the right thing for the City of Pittsburgh.
