I am one pissed off former customer of Blue Emu Car Park at Sydney Airport. Be warned these guys are rip off merchants who do not honour their advertised rates of park for up to 10 days for $99! I paid early online for a trip involving 7 days parking. I paid $99. During transit for the trip home, and because of delays at Sydney airport, and their time restrictions, we were stranded at Brisbane Airport. Virgin put us up in a hotel at no cost to us. Everyone was very nice. We were delayed 24 hours and had to get on the phone and notify people and appointments etc. I didnt worry about the car park as I had paid $99 for up to 10 days, and as the additional day would be a total of 8 days, it was still less than 10, so I would be OK right? WRONG! I put my ticket into the machine to exit the car park and the boom gate didnt budge. I waited a few more minutes and push a button marked help. I dunno why they call it that. I was informed a by a voice coming outa the machine that the reason the boom gate wouldnt open is because I owed the machine $28! I couldnt get out of the carpark unless I paid up. I thought about ringing the cops and make a scene, but stupidly, in a rush of blood I started to argue logically with the voice in the machine. I thought I argued quite forcefully, but to no avail. I should have got out and poked my finger in the machines chest! There was only one way out, thats right PAY UP YOU MUG. I visualised the machine smiling behind the speaker grill. I paid and extra $28 and drove off - NEVER TO RETURN! I dont mind paying for services performed - but being ripped off is another matter entirely.
