I am one that rarely ever goes on a public rant, but when ignorance and uneducated situations are being highlighted by the most popular talk show on the air, I had to speak up. This has me so upset I couldnt sleep last night. The Ellen Degeneres show is having a funny sunburn contest. Seriously. Quote from the submission page: Summer is here and everyone is hitting the beach or pool. Just dont forget the sunscreen! If you did, and you have the bad sunburn to prove it, we want to see the funny photos. Be sure to tell us the story behind the burn. SERIOUSLY?! While they dont outright encourage you to stage a scenario to capture a funny sunburn photo, so many people will try to just to end up on TV, in turn greatly increasing their risk for what is already the most diagnosed cancer in the USA. So instead of a sunburn picture I uploaded this picture on their website of our girls and I was sure to tell them the story behind the photo. And I posted the story and picture to the shows FB page. Now I have a challenge for you: Upload your own horror story and pictures to their funny sunburn submission page. Or to Facebook. And please click on this picture and like this post I made on Ellens page to get it some attention. Maybe as an angry Army Against Melanoma we can get them to stop this ridiculous, literally life-threatening contest. Sincerely upset, ~Kimberly
