I am only posting this as I was accused of being inflammatory. I am angry and I am disappointed. My crime? I responded to a post that asked if fat people could be healthy and questioned a respected fitpros belief that obesity was caused simply by poor food choices and inactivity. And that the answer to our obesity problem was basically telling obese people this. I replied that there were many contributing factors and that such a belief mirrored much of societys belief that obese people were lazy, greedy and stupid. I further stated that it was my belief that education, empathy and encouragement would be much more beneficial. The fitpro responded by deleting my comment and then accused me of using inflammatory language when I politely queried the rrmoval, before later deleting the whole post. I would argue that continually refering to the overweight as fat is inflammatory, but what do I know? Obesity and inactivity is a blight on our society and we all have our opinions on how to address them best. Most likely the answer lies somewhere in the middle. Debate is healthy and as long as people respect each other, it is a great way of increasing awareness and generating ideas. Many of us share the same goals. We should be listening to all viewpoints. Not simply agreeing with and supporting those that reinforce our own opinions.
