I am out of politics because I was voted out. I started my apprenticeship at age 16 and my stewardship when I graduated form University and then went on to leadership. And now that I am getting on with my life people want me in politics. It is interesting what I am hearing . For example: 1. I want a school named in my honour. Answer: Rubbish. Never thought of it and would not want it. In fact, I have not even applied to be called HON. and I would never accept a knighthood or any other award. Remember I was nominated for Most Outstanding Young Person for about 10 years then I gave in at an old 34 and took it. 2. Dont re-elect black people because they cant take care of the money. Answer: Lord help us if that is what young people are saying because it was the message I heard as early as 1965 and if they are saying that now, it means we have NOT progressed and in fact it is not even true. 3. I have done nothing for the people. Answer: I need not bore you with anything I have ever done. From the age of 16, if you dont know....then I have done NOTHING. 4. I live in a fancy house in Tuckers Town. Answer: 35 Angle Street and the Governor asked who did my grounds and I said: The Butler. He said you have a Butler? Oh....thats right....you. In closing, to those who do not have tickets for Friday or Sat at Fourways Inn, for the Hubert Smith Play, just remember you can get some for Sunday which starts at 6p.m. It is a 3 course dinner with the Masterpiece Band and a play all in one. And dont forget to bring your bingo card.
