I am overwhelmed beyond words at all of the wonderful and kind birthday words today.....I dont know what I did to deserve so many beautiful and wonderful friends...but thank goodness, God has given me a heart big enough to house all of you with warmth and prayers. It has been a wonderful birthday, actually a two-day celebration, one that began with a special Christian friend yesterday. Am going to try to record todays 66th birthday in detail and with deep meaning. This cardinal was given to me today by close friends in Coldwater, Mich. and thats where it all began, ending some 100 miles south with a wonderful birthday walk in my beloved Loblolly. I want to share some of the most meaningful birthday words ever given to me. They were written in a friendship card from my dear lifelong friend, Meredith Sprunger, on my 60th birthday, just three months before his sad passing in July of 2008. On that birthday he wrote: Sunrise...sunset. Fiddler on the Roof has reminded me once again that on Times horizon, we are much closer to sunset than sunrise. Nonetheless, we are alive to celebrate both our historic triumphs and to reach for new accomplishments! Congratulations on your milestone birthday. May your happiness and joy in life increase as we head toward Eternitys supreme sunrise! Mert
