I am posting this as a concerned citizen. We are fighting tax increases on two fronts, city and county. As a candidate for Council I am fighting hard to serve you. As a citizen and taxpayer I am contacting the Board of County Commissioners. The BOCC is going into their Budget Straw Vote this Tuesday and Wednesday and they need to hear from the fiscal conservatives. A Straw vote is when the Board goes through the budget proposed by the county manager, organization by organization to determine their funding level for the next fiscal year. Make your voices heard. Send the Commissioners an email. It can be as simple as what is listed below. "Hi, my name is ______. I am a Mecklenburg County resident and voter. I know you all are going into a Straw vote for the 2013-2014 fiscal year and I would like my voice to be heard saying please vote for a tax rate neutral budget. By this I mean do NOT raise my taxes." Please remember the Straw Vote is THIS TUESDAY (6/11) so we need people to flood their inbox... 5 or 6 will be ignored!
