I am postingmy memories in Uganda.I hope many more people can join here to share their memories of their lives in Uganda. I was 7 when all most of the Asians left on 1972. Memories of seeing off my siblings at Entebbee airport. Heading back to our home town Arua,on every road block got to hear Bangladesh rudi numbani meaning Bangladesh go back home. But we still headed home. On Pakwach bridge, we were asked why we were heading wrong way? We should have been going opposite direction. Still we made home. Next few months distribution of shops had started. it was sad seeing all these but I was not understanding the fact. The spices, clothes, gold came in plenty since it was not something the natives could use. But,having in mind how these was taken from fellow indian, never interested my parents. It was a difficult time economically but years passed and we survived.1972-1979. 1980-1984 went through civil wars which fled us to Zaire(congo) finally, after no future for better education gave me the opportunity to come to the United States. This was my journey. PS: in later years, did I come to learn why the natives called all remaining Asians Banladesh it was because Amin had allowed Bangladeshi and Pakistani medical personal to take over hospitals round the county, which led to the term In addition to my memories,I forgot the main theme of my memories which was after I was 10 and onwards. The reason being, than I came to understand that my native people who left were missed. And for that reason, we were treated as royals with much respect and honor and appriciate for staying. Few families were left in country, mostly in Kampala. It ended being one large family consisting of about 15 families. There were only 4 girls of my age probably in whole uganda, that made it special.-
