I am proud of the man I married. We love our photography business but, I am most thankful for the hardworking, loyal and genuine man he is, through his other beloved profession, as an SVU detective. Without giving too many personal details, my husband and his unit had one of the worst domestic violence cases theyve ever seen this weekend (where the victim survived). And, young children were right in the middle of it. Mom was injured severely. And, if they hadnt found the children in time, their fate would have most likely been similar. Today, it was time for the childrens important interview with psychologists and specialists, after a lot of sadness and trauma in their home. Mom has very little emotional, physical or financial support and no means of transportation. And, not a single friend or family member would give her and her young children a ride to it. My husband was so sad and disappointed. Because once again, mom is helpless and lacking any compassion or empathy from those closest to her. And, by not interviewing the victims and witnesses, dad is more likely to have a less severe punishment for the horrific abuse. I asked Mr. Hartsock what he was going to do and he said, without hesitation, I am go pick them up and bring them myself. Mom needs someone on her side. Everyone needs help sometimes. Ill get them Happy Meals at McDonalds on the way. And hopefully it will leave the children with at least one good memory about cops. And show even a little bit that we truly care and are here to keep them safe. If someone is hurting you or someone you love, in any way, please speak out. Its not your fault. And you absolutely dont deserve it. There are people who are here for you and care about you. They will help you and protect you. You are not alone. And you dont have to live this way. You are brave and strong and happiness and peace are waiting for you. Please report any type of abuse, before its too late. I know its scary, but I promise, its more terrifying to live day to day in fear or watch your loved ones suffer. Always here for you. (Including a link the comments of a powerful video. Please watch)
